What are results to you, in a business? In my experience of coaching, there are three main components to getting better and consistent results.
- Taking Action.
Your mindset is a very important part of what makes a business successful, and is often not given as much attention as it deserves. Mindset is, in essence, how you view life. Do you view life in a positive way or a negative way? Do you have scarcity mindset or an abundant mindset? How do you deal with adversity? How do you deal with setbacks? That’s really important because it really determines how much energy and resilience you have to make things happen. Wayne Dyer once said, “Change the way you look at things and the things you look at will change.” Mindset is a very important aspect of what I tell to clients and is a primary focus in our business.
You’ve got to remember, you don’t know what you don’t know, and realistically that’s a lot. Therefore as a business owner it’s always important to increase our knowledge to grow as people, business owners, and leaders. So, how do we do that? Well, it’s not as hard as you think it is. Audio books, Ted talks, Youtube and online courses are all great ways to find knowledge. The most important thing is that you’re open minded enough to just listen to new information and absorb it. Audio books in particular have affordable services, and allow for your driving time to become your learning time.
A lot of people seem to struggle with taking action. People can have all the knowledge, and think they have a strong mindset, yet still never get anywhere because they don’t actually take action.
Taking action means having a plan around what you’re gonna do to make things happen. It’s as simple as that. So, usually it starts off with clients getting a clear understanding of where they’re gonna be in three years, two years and particularly, 12 months time. Once we’ve got clarity around that, we can focus on figuring out , what to do to get to one of your goals? You need to have a 90-day plan, as long as we do that 4x a year in a disciplined and structured way then the 90-day plan is going to get us to our 1-year goal and, in my experience, often beyond the 1-year goal too.
Now, here’s the challenge, as a business owner you’re going to be bombarded with day to day challenges that will try and take your focus away from what needs to be done. So, this is why the coaching sessions are so important because it allows you to check in with where you’re at in the 90-day cycle. It’s important to make sure that we’re on track and, if we’re not, we discuss what we need to do to get back on track. So it really is a massive difference between letting things slide or making sure that things get done. And at the end of the day, it’s the results that count.
To recap, mindset is all about how you view life, the positive and the negative. Knowledge is understanding that you don’t know what you don’t know and making sure you’re open minded enough to keep learning and growing. Taking Action is about having an action plan and clarity around your path in business. Now, if all those three are working nicely together they create synergy that is going to produce results for you. Results in a way that you never thought achievable before.
Part of the coaching is to make sure that each of the above aspects gets enough focus and attention. I see it happen every day and it’s wonderful to be part of that with the clients that I coach. It’s all about discipline and the structure around that. Anyone can do it. Some people just need a push in the right direction.
