Local Business Awards 2026 Finalist — City Suburbs — Business Coach Mark

I’m proud to share that Business Coach Mark has been named a Finalist in the 2026 Local Business Awards for the City Suburbs region. It’s a recognition I don’t take lightly — and not for the reason you might expect.

Why this award is different

The Local Business Awards aren’t handed out by a panel sitting in a boardroom, and you can’t buy your way onto the list. They’re decided by the community. Real customers and local business owners take the time to nominate and vote for the businesses that have genuinely made a difference to them.

That’s what makes being a finalist so meaningful. It isn’t a marketing exercise or a self-nomination — it’s a reflection of the people I’ve had the privilege of working with. The business owners who put their faith in the process, did the hard work, and were willing to say out loud that it mattered.

What this recognition means to me

I’ve been coaching business owners since 2007, across more than 40 industries. You might think the novelty would wear off. It hasn’t. Every business I work with is someone’s livelihood — their stress at 2am, their family’s future, the thing they pour themselves into every day. To be recognised by that same community is genuinely humbling.

And I want to be clear about something: this award belongs as much to my clients as it does to me. Coaching is never a one-way street. The results — and the recognition that follows them — come from owners who showed up, stayed accountable, and were brave enough to change the way they worked. I was simply lucky enough to be in the room while they did it.

What it means for you and your business

Here’s where it gets practical, because there’s a lesson in this award that applies directly to your business.

Recognition like this is never the goal — it’s a by-product. You don’t set out to win awards. You set out to do excellent work, consistently, for the right people, and the reputation takes care of itself. The same principle is true for the business you’re building right now.

Reputation is built, not bought

There’s no shortcut to being the business people recommend. It’s earned one interaction at a time — through the quality of your work, how you treat people, and whether you do what you said you would. When we work together, a huge part of what we focus on is the systems and standards that make that consistency possible, so your reputation grows even when you’re not in the room.

Your customers are your best marketers

This award exists because customers chose to speak up. That’s the most powerful marketing there is, and it’s free — but only if you’ve earned it. A business that delivers genuine value creates advocates, and advocates create growth. If you’re relying on paid leads alone, you’re leaving your most valuable channel untapped.

Consistency compounds

Finalist recognition doesn’t come from one good month. It comes from years of turning up and doing the fundamentals well. That’s the unglamorous truth of business growth: the owners who win are rarely the ones chasing the next shiny tactic. They’re the ones who got the basics right and repeated them until the results — and the reputation — became unavoidable.
